We decided to keep it local for this week's selection, with a tune written by West Coast mandolinist John Reischman & recorded with his band John Reischman and the Jaybirds. It's called “Salt Spring,” and it's a common tune at jams - we're far from the first to cover it!
John is a Juno-nominated and Grammy award-winning artist known for his exquisite tone & original compositions. Like many Reischman tunes, this one has an energy all its own and is incredibly fun to play. Some of our favorite memories are jamming this tune at fiddle camps and shouting the melody together at 3am... yep, it happens. We hope that you enjoy it as much as we do!
